Meet Sandra, Our Member of the Month for September

Sandra came to us immediately after getting a cast off for her broken wrist. She had to pass lifting tests a few months later in order to keep her spot in paramedic school. A lot of exercises had to be modified in the beginning so that we could strengthen her wrist without aggravating it. Slowly but surely she was able to do more and more with it and just this past weekend she (OF COURSE) passed her lifting tests with flying colours! Way to go Sandra! There was never any doubt that you wouldn't blow it out of the water!

Name:

Sandra Bogorodetski

Occupation:

Future Paramedic

How long have you been a working out at The VGV?

"4 months."

What made you decide to try The VGV?

"I needed help and I needed it fast. But I also needed someone who knew what they were doing and would take care of me all while safely guiding me towards my goal. When I lift, patients will literally be giving me their life to hold in my hands and I knew The Village Gym Vaughan would be able to get me to the point where I can do that safely."

What is your favourite thing about The Village Gym Vaughan?

"My favourite thing about the VGV is the fact that we are all one family. I came to the VGV right after getting my cast off for a wrist fracture and I was exercising beside women who were deadlifting more than their weight while I could barely farmer carry 8 lbs. Not one person looked at me as weak. Everyone supported and uplifted me throughout my entire journey."

Favourite exercise?

"Deadlifting."

Lease favourite exercise?

"Lunges ...especially when Luke puts 20 reps. "

A year from now, what do you want to be able to do?

"A year from now I want to be able to deadlift 200lbs and squat 2x my weight. Mainly, I want the firefighters to look at me and be intimidated."

If you could have one superpower, what would it be? I would want x-ray or infrared vision so I can help my patients better in terms of their internal injuries..but I guess that comes with a risk of radiation, so let's go with being able to fly!
